day 21 - Gator Gets Warm

It’s Day 21 of 333 days of conscious crafting, and we have a finish!! I had to restart once to go from a small to a medium.

He loves it! He doesn’t wear costumes for very long, but he wore this for hours and only attempted nibbling on the ribbing end twice. It’s a hit!

I can see more sweaters in his future. This is the kind of functional creativity that I really need to help my mental state. Not that I don’t feel good or anything, but I feel a little useless sometimes in a world of “go to work, come home, be entertained with streaming services, go to bed.”

Most of the cross-stitch I do is more art than functional craft. Even though it’s someone else’s artwork that I am recreating, its function is to be used to decorate with, and hopefully draw a positive emotional response from seeing it.

Sometimes my artistic tank needs to be filled, but in the winter, it shifts, and my functional creative tank just feels really low. Gator’s sweater helps fill that up. J’s hat (when it finally fits the way I want it to) will fill that up.

Crafting items for people and animals that I love that will keep them warm or have some other function is a whole new level of expressing my creativity. I just don’t think I realized until today that I have the two different “tanks”.

So today I…

  1. Started the ribbing on J’s hat for the third time :)

  2. Finished Gator’s sweater!! The pattern used and details are in the Projects tab.

  3. And uncovered a little of my crafting philosophy lol.

My handsome little rug rat.
