These are my three current needlepoint WIPS.
I’ve been crafting for most of my life. I was stitching a cross-stitch kit at recess in the 80s, and my yarn stash started before my first child was born more than twenty years ago. I’ve always loved needlepoint, cross-stitch, quilting, and knitting — but I don’t have nearly as many finished projects as you’d expect.
I’m a recovering serial starter and craft supply hoarder. While some stitchers thrive with a large pile of WIPs (works in progress), too many unfinished projects give me anxiety. So I’ve committed to a more mindful approach to crafting — focusing on finishing projects instead of constantly starting new ones.
Here’s my simple rule: I keep only three active WIPs in each craft category at any time — needlepoint, cross-stitch, quilted appliqué, and knitting.
That’s it. Those are the only projects I can actively work on. I can rotate unfinished projects out only on the solstices and equinoxes (because if we’re making rules, they might as well be fun). I call it The Seasonal WIP Reset.
Fewer WIPs. Less stash guilt. More finished pieces.
WIP #1 : Agatha Christie
Needlepoint Designer:Emily Peacock
Threads: Appleton Tapestry Wool
Canvas Bought From:HM Nabavian
Started: Sometime in 2024??
Notes: This is my WIP of happiness. I love how she’s turning out.
WIP #2 : Skull Belt
Needlepoint Designer:Voila
Threads: DMC Eco Vita Crewel Wool
Canvas Bought From:Knot the Point
Started: February 8, 2026
Notes: First time working with this wool and kinda wishing I had doubled it.
WIP #3 : Green Man
Needlepoint Designer:Spellbound Stitchery
Threads: Pepper Pot Silk
Canvas Bought From:Bristly Thistle
Started: February 12, 2026
Notes: I know I have the printed version of the canvas because I can’t discern between 2 of the greens and ended up merging them into a middle shade of green. I know I’ll lose a little depth but I couldn’t tell the difference without significant eye strain!
