Poor Gator was getting cold staying with me in the hive, where I deal with the elements without heating like a crazy person.

So I figured if I could sweater up, he could too.

I originally cast on for a small because of his chest measurement and the size chart, but frogged and reknit in a medium once I tried it on him.

I had some candy apple Cotton Fleece in stash (I have had it FOREVER), and it worked perfectly for this sweater. I don’t see a reason to knit him something in acrylic or cotton; that’s not really helping with warmth, but the 20% wool does help without being too hot.

I thought I might need to make the next one longer, but he tried a couple of times to chew on that end corner, so I’m glad I didn’t.

The only change I made to the size medium was to cast on 2 stitches per armhole with a cable cast-on when both armholes were being closed up and rejoined into the round. I felt it made the armhole more rounded and less pinchy on his front legs.
